Is it just me, or does it seem like the older you get the more birthdays kind of lose their excitement? Now, don’t get me wrong, being able to celebrate another year of life is a blessing but I miss the days when you could hardly sleep because you were so excited for your birthday. Man, those were the days…
Well, to get that spark back, last year, I decided to celebrate my birthday by doing something I’ve always wanted to do which was have a professional photoshoot!! I’ve wanted to do this for so long, but I never took the time to make it happen. So, in honor of my special day, I finally did it!!
When it came to choosing a photographer, I wanted to make sure I chose someone who was personable and exuded good vibes. I’m not a model at all, so it was very important to me that the photographer was not only great at what they do but also made me feel comfortable especially since this was unchartered territory for me.
While on the hunt for a photographer, I came across the Instagram page for Nicole Mondestin Photography. After scrolling through their feed, I was blown away. Nicole’s work is AMAZING!! I loved what I saw so much that I contacted her immediately. Halfway through our consultation call, I knew my search was over. We instantly hit it off! The conversation flowed so effortlessly you would’ve thought we’d known each other for years.
When it came to creative direction for the shoot, I had no idea what I wanted. Somehow during the course of our conversation, Nicole was able make sense of all my random thoughts and create a concept for the shoot that was perfect. This had to be a divine connection because not only did I feel like I was talking to a friend, I also felt like she understood me. By the time we ended our conversation I was soooo excited!!
Another reason I wanted to work with Nicole was due to her affordable prices. Photoshoots are expensive, and I didn’t want to sacrifice the quality I wanted due to my budget. Nicole must’ve had people like me in mind because her packages were the best value for my dollars. They all include a custom session designed specifically for you, professional makeup application along with digital and printed images. There’s also another consultation a few weeks after the shoot so she can help you choose your images. If this isn’t bang for your buck, then I don’t know what is.
I had so much fun on shoot day. I was nervous at first, but my nerves quickly settled once we got started. As I mentioned before, I’m not a model so I didn’t know which poses translated best in photos. Nicole was great at giving direction. By the time we were done, nobody could tell me I wasn’t a professional model lol.
Once I saw the finished product, I was amazed! I loved them!! As someone who is super picky it’s really hard for me to be moved passed OK when it comes to excitement, so for me to be this pleased with the end result is a big deal. I was so thankful for the after-session consultation because it was so hard to pick my favorites.
